Solutions
VMware has solved the problems of physical server sprawl. However, with virtualization, Organizations now have challenges of controlling Virtual Machine Server Sprawl. With each virtual machine an Organization deploys it carries a number of downstream costs including hardware and network, power and cooling, Data Centre real-estate, system maintenance and repair, and security to name a few. CloudEngineTM Enterprise controls Virtual Machine Server Sprawl and gives CIO's a greater level of control for forecasting and budgeting.
How it works
- CloudEngineTM Enterprise integrates into the customer’s VMware VirtualCenter (vCenter)
- CIO can allocate a budget for the virtual infrastructure per department, geograhical offices, or teams
- CIO can allocate a cost to each virtual machine and also unit cost of CPU, RAM, Storage and Bandwidth
- CIO can allocate costs to virtual appliances taking into account software licensing costs
- CIO can present 'selected' virtual machines from their VMware vCentre to each department, office location, or team
- Individuals within each department can deploy virtual machines via the CloudEngineTM, and scale the capacity of CPU, RAM and Storage. Self-service control. As they deploy virtual infrastructure they utilize the budget set for their department
- Individuals within departments can view budget and consumption reports in realtime
Benefits to Enterprises
- CIO can assign a cost to the Virtual Infrastructure, controlling allocations to departments, office locations, and teams
- CIO can assign budgets and has financial control over virtual infrastructure
- CIO can maximize infrastructure resources and ROI
- Flexibility in assigning budgets, unit costs of CPU, RAM and Storage, and allocation of virtual infrastructure to each department
- Reduces Virtual Server Sprawl
- Ensure greater accountability of Virtual infrastructure use
